Does Nsfas pay for accommodation at Wits?
Residences
Wits offers student housing in the form of living and learning centres. They offer a wide variety of residence accommodation, ranging from single gender, catering residence, to mixed gender. You can view the different residences here.

Campus Housing and Residence Life is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the University’s residence programme. This includes accommodation and meals, and the provision of recreational facilities and programmes for the improved academic performance and the holistic development of students within a residential environment.

Who qualifies for Wits residence?
Postgraduate Students (New to Wits)
NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm accept before being admitted into residence. Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration. The closing date for accommodation applications is 30 October. To apply for residence click here.
How many residence does Wits have?
R51 220 per student in a single room. Accommodation rental in a double room is R48 100 per student and is exclusive of meals. Total meal prices for the year differ according to the check-in dates and the check-out dates of each individual. At least 10 meals must be taken each week.
