The school has a strong academic record usually coming tops in pass rates compared to other high schools in Zimbabwe. The school posted impressive results in the 2019 O Level examination. The school had a 100% pass rate and came out as the best school in Zimbabwe.
This was no fluke. In 2013 the school had a 96.15% ‘O’ level pass rate coming top in Matabeleland and taking 4th place nationally.
A 92.96% pass rate was attained at O-Level in the 2015 exams.
The school attracts sharp students.
In 2018, an ‘A’ level student named Primrose Tshuma came second in a prestigious SADC essay writing competition which was open to pupils from across the 11 nations of SADC. It made national news and even came to the attention of the President.
The prize-giving ceremony took place in Namibia where Primrose and her teacher went to collect the award by courtesy of the President’s private jet, followed by the additional honour of being invited to meet with him on their return!
She got US$2000 prize money from the president
